More than just about the umami

More than just umami

Worcestershire sauce has been around since the 19th century in the commercialised form, but probably one of those recipes that has lived in one form or another forever. It’s been there adding that certain something to dishes for ages, but who knew how much more it could do?

According to Leila Morgan, a Worcestershire singing teacher, when mixed into her secret elixir it can improve anyone’s vocal skills.

Hmm, like to see it have a go on mine!

Developed in conjunction with chef Felice Tocchini of Fusion Brasserie, Stoulton, she is planning to test her recipe on entrants to Worcester Music Festival. The potion includes ingredients recognized to help a person’s singing voice such as tomato juice and olive oil. Leila approached Felice for his input to create something that was not just beneficial but also palatable.

Given the tomato juice and Worcestershire sauce, and lack of vodka, not sure it would hit my palate. But hey, if you’re up for X Factor auditions, may just be worth a go!
