Looking for signs of Santa

August 11th, 2010 · 1 Comment · British favourites, Christmas foodie gifts, Foodie gifts

Ho Ho Ho!

The signs have been there since I got back: iPod shuffle got a Christmas mood on, @FairyFeltmaker asked me if I could help her find a Chocolate Christmas Cake, flyers for Christmas parties…all this and we’ve not had August yet!

Which means it’s going to start appearing…prepare yourselves. If you need to work out what the table should be sporting on Christmas Day then Selfridges have their Christmas Shop up and running! May as well choose the crackers now, and order your hampers early too! It looks like Debenhams have some new food gifts, but not much yet. Nothing to top last year’s blueberry vodka filled glass stiletto yet!

A quick scout of John Lewis, and there are a number of new gifts showing as out of stock, which quite possibly means not yet in stock. Liking the look of the St Germain Elderflower Liquer gift, will keep an eye on this one. Fortnum’s hampers still seem quite generic, although still not a gift to be sniffed at. Forman & Field have a Christmas Chipolata on offer, but I guess that could be there all year round.

So there are definite signs coming I’m afraid. I am thinking that part of this year’s focus for great Christmas foodie gifts will need to be around things we can make ourselves, and still look and taste good, but be time effective as well as cost effective. Or we’ll be needing to make sure our gifts are really good value, which doesn’t mean cheap.

Anyone got any requests on things to look for? Always up for a challenge!
