Eating, blogging, complaining – part 2

February 14th, 2010 · No Comments · Alcohol free drinks, Eating with kids, Indian Food, Places to eat

Just to show that I am not always a complaining, whingeing kind of foodie, I just wanted to say what a fabulous, flavoursome lunch we had today at Kayal in Leicester. This is most definitely not your average Indian, as this is based around Keralan cuisine, and the flavours were outstanding.

Not your typical Valentine’s do, but as David Tennant wasn’t up for lunch, I went out with my favourite people, Dr T and MGG. I highly recommend taking kids to Kayal, if only to see their faces when the dosa arrives! I think today’s was nearly 2 foot long, but it didn’t stick around long!

MGG loved that and the banana boli, but also seemed to make short work of the mutter paneer, which was pretty spicy. The fish stew and chicken stew were fantastic, beautiful, fresh, clean flavours. We really seemed to do it all good justice, and would happily go again. And they make a pretty darn good mango lassi too.

Perfect for a quick lunch, this is worth a 5 min detour from the city centre.
