I spotted these on a quick look at the John Lewis website (just after I’d fainted at the cost of the new Heston coffee machine). Not having £600 I’d want to splash out on a machine, I thought I might need something calming, which is where the candles come in. I’ve written before about beautiful food inspired candles (and I know it’s one of those things that a lot of people don’t get) but these two from Orla Kiely are right up my street. First up, Earl Grey:
This is a) my kind of tea and b) my kind of scent for the house with the brightness of bergamot and then smoky tea notes. I like the monochrome colourway of this, and I guess would be an easy gift as would probably fit into any house, as would the fragrance.
Next up, Rhubarb:
Pretty, vibrant looking colourway and smells of freshly picked rhubarb and Sicilian lemons. Slightly more interesting, and not everyone may love this one. A bit like the colour. Buy this one if you know they might like it.
Finally, Basil and Mint:
Again, I think this one would be a fairly safe bet for anyone, for both the fragrance and the design. I think this would be my choice for the kitchen, and Earl Grey for the lounge. When you dig a bit deeper into the fragrance description it also says it includes tarragon and citrus notes, so just perfect for food lovers.
Now, about that coffee machine…
