The amazing Marguerite Patten would have been 100 on Wednesday, and given that she only passed away very recently there are plans to celebrate the day with the Great Marguerite Patten Cookalong.

You just need to get hold one or more of her recipes and cook along and enjoy.

I’m planning to make her vinegar cake, one of her wartime recipes. I saw this at a 1940s weekend at the Great Central Railway over the summer, which is a fantastic weekend for vintage lovers of the era. I’d made a boiled fruit cake, which was also a wartime recipe, and then got chatting to someone who had a display of vintage cookbooks.

So, get hold of some of her recipes, cook them for the family, cook them for families or just yourself. Of course there’s a hashtag if you want to share the experience, and share the memory of this great woman #Marguerite100
