I was at my favourite food festival at the weekend, and Cosford Food Festival didn’t disappoint again. Got to love a food festival that comes with a Spitfire flypast at lunchtime is fine with me.
Well, this could be the last apron you buy!
What’s so special about this apron?
Well, let’s face it, at £155 you’re not going to replace these every week. But they are crafted to last, and last I am sure will. Each apron is made from a robust canvas, which is then cut and pre-washed. This means they’ve done all their shrinking, not to mention it softens the canvas up beautifully.
No one wants a stiff apron after all.
Then there’s the leather trims. I loved the demo of these, which are a full grained leather that you can just rub marks outs of. And then there’s the metal rivets. The detail is all in the detail.
How’s such a lovely apron going to last?
The team at Risdon & Risdon are so confident in the lasting abilities of these aprons that they come with a lifetime guarantee. You can unfasten the leather straps in order to wash the canvas part, so that should work fine. If the rivets and things fail though, they’ll replace it for you. But they come from a British foundry that has a royal warrant, so should be pretty good.
But I’m a vegan
They’ve thought of that too, as the most recent versions have cork straps. This came with a great story about making sure everything fitted the story, including the glue. I love it when businesses have such a great eye for detail, and a focus on what they stand for.
There’s no denying it, these are not cheap. They are artisanal pieces, carefully crafted with a lot of thought. There will always be cheaper, but they may well not last you anywhere near as long. Like many things, one fabulous one that looks amazing as it ages might be worth the price of 5 cheaper ones.
Only you can decide where to spend your money, on what you value. But these are definitely worth thinking about if you spend a lot of time in your apron!
