This blog exists to help food loving people like me find exciting new stuff around food and drink
I’m focused on the affordable, giftable element of food and drink, not recipes for your dinner. I’m focused on food and drink for people who like to eat and drink.
If you’re looking for the latest, the coolest, the right at the leading edge of the trend curve…well, move along, nothing for you to see here. Our bragging rights don’t come from Michelin stars or hype. It’s only ever about the taste.
Who is it for?
People like me: love everything about good food, but not worried about brands, labels, status. The only think we’re worried about is taste.
Though we do worry about our waistlines on occasions too. We’re 80:20 eaters, trying to be healthy, but think life is too short not to indulge occasionally.
And we know how to use the equipment in our kitchens, and we do use it. We probably have way too much of it, but can’t resist a good kitchen shop. Or a tea towel in my case. We’re no angels though. A takeaway, ingredient shortcuts and ready meals have all found their place here.
But our cookbooks are battered, covered with different food marks, scribbled in and well-loved. My motto is never trust anyone with clean cookbooks.
For the sake of transparency
I write about what I love and a number of those things do carry affiliate links. It means if you buy something, they send me a commission. It pays for a bottle of olive oil every now and then and has no bearing over what I write about.
You can’t pay to be in here. I do get sent things to test, in the name of finding out what’s good. Just if I don’t like it I’m going to say so. If I think it’s okay but overpriced, I’m going to say so. If I think it’s complete trash, then I’m going to say that too.
Let’s face it, I spent most of my childhood in Yorkshire. Spades are still spades in this house.
The choice is yours, there are now affiliate and non-affiliate links on posts from 2017 onwards, to comply with changes in ASA rulings.
But, above all, I am dedicated to the pursuit of the good stuff. What shall we start with?
