I love food. I love to gather groups of friends together to share a meal, or just a coffee. But with cake. My book shelves have too many cookery books, many with smudges and food marks, others just with lovingly turned pages.

I’m an enthusiastic cook, although not a great everyday, after work kind of cook. Love a good baking session, and you can’t beat baking bread to relieve stress!

I’ve worked in marketing for more years than need counting, and spent many years developing products for high street retailers in beauty. But somehow never in food. Hmm. But I’ve always been busy tracking great ideas, great shops, great locations, and even if I was doing it for cosmetics, you could bet I’d found a good coffee shop or deli en route!

I’m mum to a mini foodie, known as Mini Gourmet Girl or MGG, who at 7 lists her favourite food as mussels. Preferably moules frites, and definitely moules marinieres. Although she’s quite partial to fried mussels, but not big on them being barbecued. I can’t imagine where she gets it from! I am married to the ever patient Dr T, the real cook of the house, who loves everything except cucumber and avocado, and probably mussels, as they really, really don’t love him.

For the sake of transparency, I write about what I love and a number of those things do carry affiliate links. It means if you buy something, they send me a commission. It pays for a bottle of olive oil every now and then and has no bearing over what I write about. You can’t pay to be in here, nor am I open to food bribes. Although I could test things in the name of finding out what’s good, just if I don’t like it I’m going to say so. If I think it’s okay but overpriced, I’m going to say so. If I think it’s complete trash, then I’m going to say that too.

Lets face it, I spent most of my childhood in Yorkshire. Spades are still spades in this house.
